When Sue Wright and Peter Callahan, the co-founders and original owners of Diamond Dispersions decided to sell the company to Lubrizol back in 2016, it was in large part because they could see a tangible fit between Lubrizol’s Digital Print business and Diamond.
Most obviously, Lubrizol is a world leading supplier of dispersant chemistries with its R&D and main commercial functions located just over the Pennines in Manchester. This clearly opens up lots of exciting possibilities for new Diamond product developments in the future.
In order to make the most of these synergies, there are several new faces at Diamond who will help the business continue to grow and develop into the future. So, let’s introduce them to you!
Charles Nelson, General Manager – Charles has had many senior roles within Lubrizol (and before that in Avecia, Zeneca and ICI) in R&D, Applications and Process Technology and brings a wealth of experience to the team.
Kelly Bell, Process Control– Kelly works at both Diamond and Lubrizol’s dispersant manufacturing site and the business is already benefiting from the extensive manufacturing experience and process control methodology that Kelly has brought to the team.

Keith Malone, international commercial manager– travelling all over the world to visit both Diamond’s customers and suppliers, Keith has an extensive knowledge of the commercial workings of the ink industry. His key aim is to continue Diamond’s sustained growth by sourcing new business and further developing existing accounts and contracts t make sure all of our customers get the very best from Diamond.
In addition to this team, Diamond is also able to tap into the extensive ink jet ink testing and formulating capability in Lubrizol’s main applications lab based in Brecksville, near Cleveland in the US.
The combined Diamond-Lubrizol Digital Print business now offers many of the key components used in industrial ink jet inks; dispersions, dispersants and rheology control additives and resins. This is in addition to pre- and post-treatment technologies. As such the business is ideally positioned to work with customers to develop innovative digital print systems for existing and emerging industrial ink jet ink markets.
